I came across some things that I had written a few years ago, June of 2010 to be exact, this is one of them. I had written this letter to my maternal grandmother many years after she had passed away. I was just missing her one night and wanted to talk to her, so I did what I usually do when that happens, I wrote to her instead.

This is my letter to grandma

Last night my husband and I went to the movies, we saw Letter to Juliet. It was a sweet, feel good movie, a chick flick, but even Adam enjoyed it. The grandmother, Claire brought me to tears many times. She reminded me so much of you. The two of you are really nothing alike, but the feelings her character brought out in me hit so close to home, so close to my heart. The genuine

As we get more and more sister missionaries serving seeing them on bikes is becoming more common. Several years ago when my boys were serving the sister missionaries mostly drove cars. So when my daughter received her call and we discovered she would be riding a bike a good chunk of the time we were a bit surprised!

Now Alison is a fairly low maintenance girl but she has beautiful thick dark hair and she loves to do fun things with it. So when she learned that she was to ride a bike and

Our daughter is serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She’s serving on the east coast in the exact same mission her brother did several years ago. She is faithful and kind, smart and beautiful, a willing servant and a special spirit. The decision to go wasn’t a hard one for her. The reality of leaving her family was hard. She’s very close to her family and she had no desire to leave us so far behind, however she knew that she was supposed to serve this mission

In this life we have many trials, we also have many gifts. Often as LDS people we talk of the gift of agency, freedom of choice. But how do we use this choice? We talk of the choice between good and evil, the choice to follow God or not, to obey commandments or not, but what about the more everyday choices?

I took care of my mother for years before she died. It was a very contentious relationship, she hated me and blamed all the things that went wrong in her life on me. It was tough growing up

Yesterday one of my daughters best friends was killed in a car accident on her way back to college. This is the third one of her friends that has been killed in car accidents in the last few years. It is a heart breaking day for her, for her friends family, for the small valley we live in.

We could talk about seat belts. We could talk about slowing down in bad weather. We could talk about driving sleepy or texting or a hundred other things that may or may not have anything to do with the
