Experiencing Blessings

Last weekend was wonderful. My youngest daughter has decided to serve a mission and her “farewell” weekend was upon us. On Saturday we went to the temple as a family and felt of the spirit. It was a sweet experience. On Sunday we went to church to hear her speak about being prepared to serve a mission. She chose to talk of testimony and how gaining one and living by the promptings of the spirit and faith helped her to be ready to serve.

As Latter Day Saints we all experience that joy of sending our children off to serve and then being amazed at how they have grown and been blessed when they come home. I have watched two boys come home as men, but this experience with my daughter is different. As I heard her speak and express her

I have raised 3 daughters, quite successfully if I do say so myself! Over the years I have talked to them many times about boys and then later about men. I was very concerned that they choose life companions that would bring them happiness, who were well suited to them. I felt the best way to make this happen was to help them go into relationships with their eyes open, recognizing who you are and who the person is you want to be with.

Well I started lots of traditions with my kids and now I’m watching them pass on some of them to their kids, it feels quite rewarding! However as kids grow and grow up some traditions don’t translate and some need modifications. But in order to keep up and

When my children were small I had the insane idea of making Christmas stockings. I thought it would be so much fun and they would look so cute. I went to my favorite catalogs, Herrschners and Mary Maxim and started looking at what my options were. I settled on the felt stockings, so cute, so many options, they could be personalized…….I ordered 5 of them and began to work.

What I hadn’t planned on is how much work they were! The pictures look so simple and I have done my fair share of

Weddings are a lot of work, I believe the previous bazillion articles on Emma’s wedding have shown that! But the thing that may often get lost in all the planning and parties and fun and stress is that a wedding is not only the start of a new family, but the combining  of families and the bringing together of our families.

It starts with 2 people who have decided that their lives will be made better by being together.
