The family photographer

Kimberly is my sister in law, I married her brother when she was 4 years old. I’ve watched her grow up, pulled her teeth, babysat her, cried with her, let her kidnap my children for road trips, face painting, game and movie nights, helped her redecorate, paint, move, had numerous heart to heart conversations and depended on her for just about everything.

If I need a helping hand, there is Kim. If I need someone to help me think it through, there is Kim. If I need someone to hold me together as we work to pull something together, there is Kim. I loved being a stay at home mom, but when my youngest was 10 years old I had…

Emma’s swing

Emma’s swing

My middle daughter Emma is in love and about to be married. I know, when you look at the picture you will say, What? She’s only 12! But by the time she’s married she will be 22 years old. Young? Yes, but she’s well prepared and has made an awesome choice in her forever mate.

She’s been thinking about this wedding day for a couple years now and she wants it to be about family most of all. Her reception will be filled with touches of family and sentiment and her swing will take center stage.

Love Letters

I have been married to the love of my life for almost 30 years. Before we married I received 3 love letters, wonderful letters that made me cry and love him more every time I read them. He bared his heart to me in those letters and they meant the world to me. He didn’t just buy a card and sign it, he wrote from his heart. I knew from that moment that he had the soul of a poet and that he could melt my heart and fill it up with love all at the same time.

Well time went on, children came, he showed me in a million ways how much he loved me. I’ve written before about…

The Dream

Years ago, in the beginning of my freshman year of high school, i had this dream, just before 9/11. It was strong, vivid, and unlike anything I've ever experienced before. We've all had a dream at sometime or another in which we die or come close to dying....or kill somebody....or your dog dies....you get the idea. Well this dream involved my death, but unlike other dreams, it didn't end there.

Despite what the dream involves, I didn't really make the connection between my dream and 9/11 until years later, when I related the dream to a friend. It honestly never occurred to me. One scene however, came back with perfect clarity when I went through the temple for the…

Daddy’s and Baby Girls

Daddy’s and Baby Girls

I have 2 sons, they each have 2 daughters ages 2 and about 5 months. No, I don’t think they do that on purpose! Now my husband and I also have 3 daughters and no matter how many times a man tells you he wants a son there is nothing like a daddy and his baby girl, and yes, they will always be his baby girl! My father in law has 3 sons and 1 daughter. He has told me often that if the Lord had given him his baby girl first he wouldn’t have had any more kids, because all he ever wanted was a little girl to love. She was worth waiting for and I’m glad they had…
