The Wi-Fi Hero

My husband and I work in the internet service provider industry. The one thing that we have learned over and over through the years is that the more advanced the technology becomes, the less and less we know and understand as people in general.

The term Wi-Fi is used very much as a generic term meaning all things wireless, it couldn’t be further from the truth! But this is not the place I come to whine, complain and vent about work. However, when I found this article in the readers digest I laughed and laughed. It just makes me happy to think about it. So I’m reprinting it here, giving full credit to the writer…….Mike Lacher, from mcsweeneys.net.

Lo, in the twilight days of the second year of the second decade of the third millennium did a

Emma’s swing

My middle daughter Emma is in love and about to be married. I know, when you look at the picture you will say, What? She’s only 12! But by the time she’s married she will be 22 years old. Young? Yes, but she’s well prepared and has made an awesome choice in her forever mate.IMG_3129

She’s been thinking about this wedding day for a couple years now and she wants it to be about family most of all. Her reception will be filled with touches of family and sentiment and her swing will take center stage.

The Dream

Years ago, in the beginning of my freshman year of high school, i had this dream, just before 9/11. It was strong, vivid, and unlike anything I've ever experienced before. We've all had a dream at sometime or another in which we die or come close to dying....or kill somebody....or your dog dies....you get the idea. Well this dream involved my death, but unlike other dreams, it didn't end there.

Despite what the dream involves, I didn't really make the connection between my dream

Traveling to new heights!

We recently took a trip to our cousins condo on a mountain in Utah. The condo sits at 10,000 feet, that may not sound like much to some people, however when you live at roughly 2,000 feet the altitude can give you serious problems.

So following are some tips for dealing with altitude sickness or issues with being at a much greater altitude than you’re accustomed to.

First, the air will probably be dry. If you have the option bring along a humidifier and run it day and night. It will relieve

Brianhead Trip 2012

About once a year we borrow my husbands cousins condo in Utah. They are very generous with the use of the condo with all the family and its a beautiful place. It’s part of a fourplex and easily sleeps 14. It sits at 10,000 feet with a killer view and very few neighbors, its quiet and beautiful and in the winter you can sit at the window or on the balcony and watch the skiers. Wow, are we lucky!

This year most of us were together for 4 days, a few of us for a week longer than that. We prepared

Freezing meals for traveling

We recently spent a long weekend at our cousins condo in the mountains. They have a beautifully appointed kitchen there with all the bells and whistles, but all of my kids and grandkids were going to be there and I didn’t want to spend every minute in the kitchen. Another reason to bring things prepared was that a grocery store was 45 minutes away, so bringing it all prepared cut down on the chance that we would forget an important ingredient.

So we had a little family meeting and decided on

Love Letters

I have been married to the love of my life for almost 30 years. Before we married I received 3 love letters, wonderful letters that made me cry and love him more every time I read them. He bared his heart to me in those letters and they meant the world to me. He didn’t just buy a card and sign it, he wrote from his heart. I knew from that moment that he had the soul of a poet and that he could melt my heart and fill it up with love all at the same time.

Well time went on, children came, he
