Easy home made bread, with a secret ingredient

For many years in an effort to stay at home with my kids I baked bread and sold it from my home. Friends and neighbors were very kind in helping to spread the word and it helped bring in enough extra income that I didn't have to leave the home for a part time job.

Don’t get me wrong, it was a lot of hard work and I was juggling 5 young kids and a bed-ridden mother, but staying at home with them was my goal, so I made it work. I had 1 oven but getting up at 4 and working till sometimes 10pm I could churn out a whole lot of baked goods. My all time high number was 92 loaves of bread that was exhausting! I also baked cookies and cinnamon rolls and dinner rolls. Thanksgiving and Christmas the orders came pouring in and the late hours added up

Pork Roast leftovers

Yesterday before work I took a pork shoulder picnic roast out of the fridge and put it in the slow cooker.

I rubbed it down with salt, pepper, garlic and oregano and turned it on low for the whole day. When I got home the house smelled fabulous!

Then I peeled some russet potatoes and to add color, flavor and some extra vitamins I peeled 3 small sweet potatoes and added them to the pot. When they were soft I mashed them, added sour cream, butter and just for fun some leftover onion dip! Yes
