| 1/4 cup(s) cocoa |
| 1 cup(s) water |
| 2 cup(s) sugar |
| 1 teaspoon(s) baking soda |
| 1/2 teaspoon(s) salt |
| 2 cup(s) flour |
| 1/2 cup(s) sour cream or buttermilk |
| 1 tablespoon(s) vanilla |
| 3 eggs |
| 1/2 cup(s) butter |
| 4 tablespoon(s) cocoa |
| 5 tablespoon(s) milk |
| 4 cup(s) powdered sugar |
| 1 teaspoon(s) vanilla |
Texas Sheet Cake Directions
- Melt butter, cocoa and water together in saucepan and bring to a boil, then remove from heat
- Sift together, flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, add to cocoa mixture. Add sour cream or buttermilk, vanilla and eggs, mix well.
- Bake in 10 1/2 x 15 1/2 inch sheet pan for 25-30 at 350 degrees
- Cool until just warm, frost while still warm
- Frost with 1/2 cup butter, 4 tbsp cocoa and milk, mix together well and spread on cake. Sprinkle with chopped nuts
