  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) whole cloves
  • 2 cup(s) sugar
  • 1 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 1 gallon(s) beets
  • 1 3 inch cinnamon stick
  • 3 cup(s) cider vinager
  • 2 teaspoon(s) allspice
  • 2 cup(s) water

Pickled Beets - Grandma Lewis Directions

    Wash beets, remove root and stems, place in large pot, pour water over to cover and cook til tender, about 15 minutes. Drain, remove skin and cut beets into chunks. Place beets in clean canning jars. Place all other ingredients in a large pot and bring to boil, simmer 5 minutes. Pour hot liquid over beets until covered and within 1/4 inch of jar top. If packed very hot these will not need to be processed, just sealed. If you have any concerns they can be processed for 20 minutes
