Ingredients

Recipe

  • 2 cup(s) warm water
  • 1 tablespoon(s) salt
  • 1 tablespoon(s) shortening
  • 2 1/2 teaspoon(s) dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup(s) sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon(s) sugar
  • 1/2 cup(s) evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup(s) melted butter
  • 5 cup(s) flour, white, wheat or a combination

Bread Directions

  1. Place yeast and sugar in bowl. Pour warm water over the yeast mixture and let sit for 10-15 min or until bubbly
  2. Combine melted butter, sugar, evaporated milk and salt, pour over the yeast mixture
  3. Add about 3 cups of the flour one at a time. Continue adding flour 1/2 C at a time until it cleans the side of your Bosch or if mixing by hand it no longer sticks to your hand
  4. Cover and let rise til double
  5. Divide dough in half, form into loaves and place in 2 greased loaf pans
  6. Let rise til it looks like a good loaf of bread
  7. Bake at 350 for about 35 min
