  • 2 tablespoon(s) yeast
  • 1/2 cup(s) shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 7 cup(s) flour
  • 1/2 cup(s) sugar
  • 2 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 2 cup(s) warm milk
  • 2 teaspoon(s) cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup(s) sugar

Cinnamon Swirl Loaf Directions

  1. In large bowl mix 3 1/2 cups flour and the yeast. Heat milk in saucepan to just warm combined with the 1/2 cup sugar, shortening, and salt, stirring constantly to melt shortening. Add to flour mixture and stir to combine, add eggs.
  2. Add enough flour up to 8 cups to make a moderately soft dough. Turn out onto floured board and knead for 10 minutes. Place in greased bowl, cover and let rise til double.
  3. Divide dough in half. Roll each half into a rectangle, brush surface with melted butter or water. Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle over dough. Roll up like a jelly roll, seal ends and edges. Place each in a loaf pan. Cover and let rise til doubled.
  4. Bake 350 35-40 minutes. Remove from pans and cool. Drizzle with icing
  5. Yield 2 loaves
